Tipco Asphalt incorporates a dedication of "maintaining the highest Corporate Social Responsibility standards at all times", in the Company's Vision Statement. We believe that with a balance of our corporate social responsibility in three dimensions: economic, social and environment, we shall contribute continuously to the country's sustainable development.
To reinforce our the vision statement, we set our CSR policy covering 7 key areas: corporate governance, human rights, fair labor practices, environmental protection, fair business practices, consumer concerns, and community involvement and development.
Tipco Asphalt has set core strategies in social responsibility perspective focusing on reduction in CO2 emission and participation in community development. Action plans are also set in various functions such as screening criteria in recruitment for those who have volunteering spirit, improving of manufacturing technology aiming for reduction in CO2 emission, promoting use of Asphalt Emulsion products, raising awareness of social responsibility and environmental concern within and outside the Company, and community involvement and development projects.
Moreover, all five plants in Thailand have been participating since 2008 in Corporate Social Responsibility projects organized by the Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry (CSR-DIW). We are also under a process of reviewing our practices in compliant to the ISO 26000 (Social Responsibility), with a target for accreditation in 2013.
Tipco Asphalt practices the ISO 14000, as our work standards together with the occupational health and safety procedures. It has become the Company's culture that all employee has to control and reduce pollution impacts with air, water, soil, and other natural resources.
Major projects includes changing the carrying capacity of the trucks and vessels to a larger size in order to reduce number of delivering trips, fuel consumption to reheat the bitumen, application of highly efficient insulation within asphalt trucks to reduce heat loss, alternation of asphalt heating source from firewood to LPG gas to reduce emission of sulfur dioxide.
