KBC has started the sustainability journey to increase renewable energy to reduce GHG emissions
Kemaman Bitumen Company (KBC) in Malaysia has successfully commissioned its new Solar Roof Project, officially operational as of January 19, 2026.

This installation, featuring a system capacity of 904.40 kWp, is now generating energy from renewable source (as opposed to Grid) to power our manufacturing operations. This project represents a tangible transition from planning to action, directly supporting our target to increase renewable energy usage and reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions.
Since 2025, the Head Office Sustainability Development (SD) Team has worked closely with KBC to identify high-impact opportunities for environmental efficiency. This collaboration has transformed “high-level” sustainability concepts into operational reality. By utilizing existing roof space assets, we are not only lowering the carbon intensity of our production but also securing a self-reliant energy source for the facility.
Key Impacts:
- Decarbonization: Direct reduction of Scope 2 GHG emissions.
- Operational Efficiency: Optimizing infrastructure to generate value.
- Leadership: Setting a renewable energy benchmark for all subsidiaries within the Group.
We commend the KBC team in Malaysia for their dedication to executing this project. Their achievement proves that sustainability is more than policy—it is a daily operational practice that delivers measurable value to our business.
